Queen's Park Mansion Block

Redevelopment of a prominent corner site to create a new build 6-storey mansion block

Tigg + Coll Architects have proposed the redevelopment of an existing detached block of 19 apartments in Queen's Park. The proposed development consists of the demolition of the existing flats and provision of a new 6 storey block of 19 flats with an approximate GIA of 19,000sqft. The development comprises a mix of one-bed, two-bed and three-bed dwellings.

The site is located in North West London adjacent to Queen's Park and uses the context as a driving force behind the design. The scale of development, the size and positioning of openings, and the choice of materials have been carefully chosen to reflect the surrounding areas. Bay windows have been introduced to reference the neighbouring properties along the street, while balconies and the setting out of primary outlook within the dwellings are located to maximise south facing opportunities.

At street level a communal outdoor space is introduced to create a area of congregation for the occupants to use while in alongside this the dwellings on ground floor are provided with generous private gardens to the front and rear.

The main material of the development is brick with a metal cladding roof, reference the tonal colour of the brick facades and the natural slate finish of the neighbouring properties.
