We are extending the existing entrance lobby onto Frying Pan Alley, creating a new separate commercial space, and creating a more dramatic entrance foyer to the student amenity space. A double-height extension is proposed to the podium featuring a curtain wall glazing system with aluminum fins supported off steel structural cross-bracing, exposed behind the glazed façade.
The ground floor amenity space is to be overhauled, relocating reception into the new foyer and reorganizing the internal flow of students.
The auditorium space is to be fit-out to serve pop-up events, but also serve as study space for students in between the various events in the students social calendar.
The new interior scheme adds a rich palette of colour which takes clues from the surrounding area of Spitalfields and its rich Victorian industrial heritage of the silk industry in the nearby Fornier street, with it’s multi-coloured entrance doors and detailed porticos.
Block colours are added throughout the common areas, layered with more intricate wall panelling detailing, which weaves the spaces together and ties the joinery and finishes together into a holistic design. Curved walls and joinery have been inserted into the existing spaces to create softer spaces for students to meet, study or relax.
A new Wellness suite is to be created within the amenity space, looking out onto the proposed landscaping to the courtyard, providing a tranquil space for students to retreat to for pop-up health treatments, counselling and support.
Contemporary FFE is specified throughout, making sure the spaces feel comfortable and homely whilst maintaining a sense of luxury suited to the Chapter brand.
