Completed Project: St Simon's Avenue

We recently completed the extensive reworking of an Edwardian family home in Putney, including a 2-storey brass-framed glazed rear and basement extension.

A growing family and its changing needs defined the requirement for better programmed and more extensive usable space and to solve the lack of interconnectivity.

After an intensive briefing period, we identified with the client the important adjacencies of use and set out parameters of privacy. From this flow diagram we developed how the family would like to live and use the space in the future. The spatial hierarchy that subsequently developed brought clarity to the proposals and helped to define the internal architecture. Given the intrinsic benefits of these large Edwardian properties it was also important that spaces felt well defined, avoiding vacuous impersonal space.

The end result is a more useful, well considered layout, maximising the usable space and providing the family with a home catered to their needs.
